Originally from Glasgow, having lived and worked in London and New York, I am delighted to be able to call Perthshire my home.
Despite not having been formally trained in the traditional sense, I have attended many, many art classes over the years and gleaned everything I could from some extremely talented tutors. I achieved an HND in Art and Design after a full-time, two-year stint at Ayr College as a mature student, which firmly cemented my love of painting.
I will paint or draw almost anything and love the feeling of moving paint around. I'm drawn in the main, but not exclusively, to still-lifes, playing with the shapes of everyday objects and getting the viewer to look at them in a slightly different way. I have dabbled in Urban Landscapes and more recently I have done a series of one of the most famous fishing beats on the Tay, Islamouth, relishing trying to recreate the ever-moving water of the Tay.
Oil is my preferred medium, but I often dabble in inks, mixed media and I have recently rekindled a love for the immediacy that acrylics can offer.
As you can see from my portfolio, my body of work is fairly eclectic, this reflects the fact that I am constantly learning and hopefully growing as an artist and enjoy experimenting. I hope you like what you see.
